Thank you for your interest in Clarendon Elementary School. Please watch our school video which includes much of the information that we cover on school tours. There’s more information below the video as well.
Clarendon’s school site is home to two distinct programs: a general education program (also known as “Second Community”), and the Japanese Bilingual Bicultural Program (JBBP). Admission to each program is handled separately by the EPC, meaning that when you apply to Clarendon, you choose to apply to the Second Community program, the JBBP program, or both. Tours at Clarendon will cover both programs equally and simultaneously.
Our tours should offer you a glimpse of what campus life is like—for students and parents—at Clarendon.
All tours start promptly at 9:45am and last approximately one hour. Tour dates include:
- Wednesday, October 9
- Thursday, October 24
- Thursday, November 7
- Wednesday, November 13
- Wednesday, November 20
- Thursday, December 5
- Wednesday, December 11
- Thursday, January 16
Please note that our tours are for adults only. Babies in carriers are fine, but please refrain from bringing preschoolers or toddlers as we do not have care available to them during tour times. We appreciate your cooperation.
Each tour will feature:
- Greetings and information from our Principal as well as program overview from parent leaders from JBBP and Second Community
- Tour groups lead by current Clarendon parents—each group will have one parent from JBBP and one from Second Community
- The opportunity to visit:
- A lower grade class—Kindergarten or 1st Grade
- An upper grade class
- An Art class
- A PE class
- School Library & Computer Lab
- Information on after-school, Parent Involvement, etc.

District Deadlines & Information
The deadline for enrollment for the 2014-2015 school year is January 21, 2014. Placement notifications will go out on March 14, 2015. Enrollment at Clarendon and all San Francisco public schools is handled by the school district’s Educational Placement Center (EPC). You can read about school placement on the school district’s website.

The nonprofit Parents for Public Schools is an excellent resource for navigating the enrollment process. PPS is a network of public school parents; it is not funded by the school district and so maintains its independence. They host helpful enrollment workshops in all parts of the city.
